The Joy of Mindfulness with Dorie the Dog : For Kids Ages 4 to 8. Teaching Self-Regulation, Positivity, Gratitude, and Positive Affirmations by Katie O'Brien

Looking for a gentle way to teach kids mindfulness and emotional balance?
What if your child could learn calm, confidence, and happiness… from a dog?

Kids today are overwhelmed by constant stimulation, screens, and big emotions. The Joy of Mindfulness with Dorie the Dog helps children slow down, breathe, and discover joy in the present moment.

As a high school art teacher for over 20 years, Katie O’Brien, M.Ed. has seen how creativity and mindfulness empower kids to regulate emotions, build confidence, and feel proud of who they are. Inspired by her own rescue dog, Katie brings a heart-centered message to life through playful storytelling and calming illustrations.

In this book, your child will discover how to:

  • Turn big feelings into calm using simple mindful breathing

  • Notice the beauty of nature and everyday moments

  • Practice gratitude and positive thinking for a happier mindset

  • Build emotional intelligence and self-regulation skills

  • Boost focus and creativity through art with a fun coloring section

  • Use positive affirmations that encourage confidence and joy

Kids will laugh, learn, breathe, and feel proud as they follow Dorie’s mindful adventures!

Even if your child struggles to sit still…
Even if they get frustrated or overwhelmed easily…
Even if they prefer screens over storytime…
…this engaging, relatable book helps them find peace — right where they are.

This is the perfect Social Emotional Learning (SEL) tool for:

  • Parents who want calmer, happier routines

  • Teachers introducing mindfulness in the classroom

  • Therapists helping children with anxiety or emotional regulation

Give your child the lifelong gift of mindfulness! Teach them how to handle big emotions, use breathing and art to calm down, and enjoy the beauty of living in the moment.

With warmth and wisdom, she reminds her little one of the unique traits that make him an essential part of the forest family.
