The Rose and the Raven: A Retold of Old Book by G. Lawrence

This is a story of forest and fables, of feather and thorn, of a beast and a beauty and an enchanted castle lost in time

But it's not the one you know...

The Rose and the Raven is a novella, and part of the Retold of Old Series by G. Lawrence.

The author's thanks are due to Julia Gibbs, proof reader of this work and Fleurie Design, the cover designer.

My Review:

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Four Point Four Stars

‘The Rose and the Raven’, starts like any other fairy tale. This time too the other things remain the same including the historical setting and the other events bringing into the calamities of the times with a rich family suddenly being pushed into poverty. Rose, finds herself venturing into the woods and more or less meeting the same fate as Belle did in the fairy tale and Rose meets the Beast and goes to the Beast’s castle.

But the fact is Rose is not new to the forests. She enjoys it more than she did in her father’s castle. Also I enjoyed the four interests that Rose had to make her ‘fascinating’ instead of just interesting.

The story then morphs into something else as it has been retold into something far more cruel and more connectable in the modern age, especially as to who the ‘raven’ is and her connection with the Beast.

The characters were well etched and the description of the surroundings also felt beautiful as the Beauty and the Beast was retold with a different outcome.

Enjoyed it.

I also felt that the book cover was gorgeous and perfect for the story.
