Lessons in the Wild for Emma the Elephant
Emma the Elephant by Lorinda Alana is a tale of resilience and family bonds brought to life by hand-drawn illustrations. Little Emma’s story starts with a narrow escape from a hyena pack with her aunt’s help. She learns from the incident and with her mother and aunt’s help learns more about the elephant ways in the Kalahari Desert. It was a satisfying read to see Emma grow from a vulnerable calf into a strong, big-hearted mother tending to her own young. Nice story about overcoming adversity.
