A Friend So True by Menachem Perlman

A Friend So True is a tender, rhyming picture book that follows the life of a boy and the handmade friend he creates from pipe, paper, and glue. From childhood adventures to life’s many changes, the story gently explores how friendships evolve as we grow.

As the boy moves through school, new friendships, adulthood, and eventually old age, his first friend quietly remains in his heart, representing imagination, innocence, and the emotional imprint of childhood. With warm illustrations and poetic language, A Friend So True reassures readers that change is natural, courage is essential, and every ending carries the promise of a new beginning.

This heartfelt story celebrates the enduring power of early connections and the memories that shape who we become.

My Review:

🌟🌟🌟🌟

A little story of changing people and evolving friends for kids

The book and its beautiful illustrations bring out the journey of growing up and changing friendships.

A little boy and his hand-made companion - a puppet, are very happy and are always together. As the boy grows up, he makes other friends and almost forgets his first friend.

The rhyming story conveys how early connections leave a lasting emotional bond for all of us. A sweet poetic read that celebrates the courage to grow while still cherishing childhood memories.
